Bed Lamps Make a Beautiful Addition to Any Bedroom

Bed lamps make a beautiful addition to any bedroom and come in a wide variety of styles designed to fit any décor. Bed lamps usually perch upon the headboard of the bed and not only make nice focal point lighting, but are excellent when reading in bed.

These lamps usually come with hooks that attach to the headboard. In some cases, the hooks are padded so as not to damage your furniture. Bed lamps are made for virtually every type of headboard, including thick, sleigh beds.

Victorian bed lamps make an excellent addition to a feminine room. I have a Victorian bed lamp in my bedroom and use it all the time for reading. It gives more focused lighting than if I put all of the lights in the bedroom on, and best of all, there is a little chain that I can pull to turn off the lamp when I am finished reading and ready to go to sleep.

Those choosing a Victorian bed lamp will be pleased to learn that there are many different style shades that drape around the lamp. Some shades are flat and are almost flush with the lamp, while others are arched in a half circle. There are many different styles and colors to choose from and range from elaborate, with beads and tassels, to simple elegance.

Box style bed lamps also come in many different styles, including the “Victorian Style” that I love for my bedroom. These lamps are generally light weight and look similar to a light box. As with regular bed lamps, they attach to the headboard with a couple of padded hooks.

Bed lamps do not have to be used solely on beds. As these lamps are usually flat and easy to remove, they can be put anywhere that you want additional light, or even decoration. Many people hang these bed lamps on the walls of their home to highlight a photo or painting. The cord can easily be hidden behind a sofa or wall picture. Bed lamps are not only useful, but very nice accent pieces for decorating.

Lighting is an easy way to decorate your house. Simply look at the focal point of a room and make sure there is a soft light playing on it. This effect can easily be achieved with a bed lamp. Using different colored bulbs can make for a more dramatic effect if you so choose.

One of my favorite ways to use a bed lamp is to put it on the back of a large antique chair that I have in my living room. I tried this, for decorative effect, with the bed lamp that I have in my bedroom. As it is so easy to move, this was an easy feat to accomplish and added the touch that I wanted in my living room for a party. Afterwards, I simply removed the bed lamp and put it back on my headboard. However, I liked the look so much that I had to order another bed lamp.

Bed lamps are a nice, whimsical way to decorate, yet offer great service. It is so nice to be able to read in bed without having to get up and turn off the light when I am finished and ready to go to sleep. On top of that, the bed lamp gives me better, more concentrated light on my reading material. Bed lamps make great gifts for just about everyone.
